Duxbury Anti-Discrimination Resolution

The Duxbury Board of Selectmen is committed to ensuring that our town is a safe and welcoming community that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion. We unequivocally condemn discrimination in all its forms.

As elected leaders, we recognize our responsibility to understand and address racial inequality and all other forms of discrimination in Duxbury.

Change starts at the local level, and better understanding and action in our own community can contribute to effective systemic change at the regional, state, and national levels. To that end, we will work to educate ourselves, town employees, and town residents on social and racial justice issues.

We will review our existing policies, practices, and procedures, and where necessary, we will enact changes to begin to build a stronger, more equitable community, including efforts to hire and retain a more diverse workforce.

We will work to ensure that Duxbury is a place where all individuals can live happily, free of fear, and with equal access to opportunities, regardless of race, religion, class, ethnicity, age, ability, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Can We Talk?

We believe that to end the divisiveness in our country, we need to understand and respect each other. Listening to what we have to say about important issues facing us in our capital and in every community, is the first step. Please join in a town-wide Zoom meeting to discuss the events in Washington last week, and the future of our country and community. Hosted by Prejudice Free Duxbury, this Wednesday, January 13th @ 7PM.

While people of goodwill are wishing each other well at this time of year, there are others who don’t share that view. This week, a Duxbury resident received anonymous hate mail about a sign on their property.

Prejudice Free Duxbury joins all people of goodwill in condemning that action. We hope that you will all join us in solidarity. If you have had any experience in Duxbury of similar occurrences, we would like to know of it. Please use the "Contact Us" tab.

In the meantime, let’s be kind to one another and support one another against all forms of discrimination.

Join us at Prejudice Free Duxbury, a collaboration of the Duxbury Rotary Club and the Interfaith Council’s No Place for Hate campaign.
